Tumblr Wont Upload This Gif as a Gif

Error uploading photo: The ultimate solution

So I've been looking through the ''Error uploading photograph'' tag and I see goose egg but lament, and the worst is that nobody is doing anything to assist. (EDIT: i mean seriously does it accept too much of an effort to scroll this tag a bit to find this post???? complaining on that tag wont solve anything smh) I remember a really practiced tutorial from a g-pop web log but I can't find it ;A; then I'll endeavour to share some of my tips to upload those annoying oversaturated gifs.

Used tools:

• Photoshop CS5 extended (You can use any version)
• Grainy textures. You can observe grainy textures hither.

So fifty-fifty though I suck at explaining things, I hope you guys sympathize OTL

The most probable reason your gifs aren't uploading is because they are either oversaturated/take too many frames, though the 2d option is very unusual, just it happens.

Options:  [I'll go from the options that work with most of the gifs to the last resort options.]

• Grainy textures

For some reason, tumblr doesn't similar strong cyan/magenta colors, or any other oversaturated color. This is when the grainy textures come.

Grainy textures are great when it comes to ''dissimulate'' the low quality of the gif (For example, you accept this gif that was one,3 mb but you lowered the quality in order to get the size to 999kb.) It also makes a nifty effect, and the skilful function is that it can help us avoid this error. This is what I practise:

And so I'll add this grainy texture

I ordinarily set up the texture to screen, and lower the opacity to xx%-forty%, depending on how saturated the frames are.

Of import!!

ALWAYS call up to unify the texture to each frame. (This option is extremely useful, as it volition use any option you choose to all your frames.) You can do this by only clicking the third push button of the unify pick, equally shown in the motion picture below.

Play with the opacity setting until you get the gif to upload. Remember that our first priority is to upload the gif and effort to go out the coloring intact even though it is hard. Y'all tin also play with the curves to re-color the gif, it's up to you lot. (I don't recommend information technology because we are struggling to avoid the error we don't want to get information technology again!!)

Notation: There are many kinds of textures out there, using a white grainy texture for dark frames is not recommended. What you wanna do is to choose a dark one instead.

Result:

It doesn't wait as colorful as the original gif, only it uploaded without problems!

• Fill up layer

This is an option that doesn't always work with my gifs, but information technology is worth mentioning it.

If your gif is either oversaturated in cyan/magenta colors, y'all need to ''balance'' the colors. What y'all wanna do is to create a new fill layer with solid color.

If your gif is oversaturated in cyan, you lot'll choose a light pink color, and if your gif is oversaturated in magenta, choose a calorie-free blue color. Play with the opacity selection of the fill up layer until it uploads.  If it doesn't, move onto the next pick.

• Desaturation and depression vibrance

Personally, I don't similar this option, but your gif volition definitely upload, as the main problem is your gif saturation, desaturating it is an obvious solution that will work 99% of the time, simply we don't want those colors gone!

Recommendation? Play with both the saturation/vibrance settings until you become your gif to upload. At this indicate, playing with the levels/curves is non recommended, but you can always give it a try!

Tip: Equally I said before, Tumblr doesn't like cyan/magenta colors also as any other oversaturated colour. If you experience like you're getting the Error uploading photograph because of just one color, click on the hue/saturation selection, cull cyans /magentas and decrease the saturation, equally well equally whatsoever other oversaturated color.

Try uploading your gif, if it doesn't upload, try lowering the saturation fifty-fifty more, if it doesn't upload, move onto the next option.

• Decrease the amount of frames

This is actually unusual, because many of our gifs have betwixt 20/xxx frames, which is not a problem.

But apparently, Tumblr doesn't like gifs with more than 45/50 frames. I know most of you tin't become a gif to be under 999 kb with fifty frames, but it is possible for videogame gifs extracted from emulators, since the color expectrum isn't large. If y'all don't work with these, skip this choice.

This gif, every bit information technology is correct now, won't upload. It has exactly 117 frames, and it is 88kb. What you lot wanna do is to reduce the corporeality of frames to either 50/45. It should upload now. If it doesn't, keep decreasing  the amount of frames until information technology uploads. This method e'er works for me. If you don't want to decrease the amount of frames, you can ever lower the saturation, but there's similar a xxx% adventure information technology will work, and most of the colors will exist gone. It's up to you.

• Black and white option and recoloring with PSDs

The blackness and white selection will near likely allow your gif exist uploaded, just all the colors will exist gone. At that place's like a x% chance information technology won't work, and this is when you lot have to lower the saturation as well. By now, your gif won't have whatever colors, so you might want to recollect twice before uploading your gif, as tumblr users are actually picky.

Using psds is a great fashion to avert the error uploading photograph, only you might want to change some of the settings, like exposure, vibrance and saturation, as most of the psds have a lot of exposure and other settings nosotros don't desire to put on our gif.

• Upload as draft

Many people say that uploading as draft helps to avert the Mistake uploading photograph. I can't say it works for certain considering I always upload my gifs or whatever graphic I make as typhoon and then I can't really tell if there's an actual difference, and so if you never employ the "upload equally draft" option, requite it a try!

If you tin can't go your gif to upload, then try to mix some of the options above and your gif will definitely upload.
